With international break now over, the focus now turns towards club football. Barcelona have enjoyed a successful start to the season leading both the domestic and European tables.
After a torrid season by their standards last term, Barcelona are looking to bounce back under their new manager Ernesto Valverde. The Spanish manager has managed to spur his side to an unbeaten campaign so far. Barcelona have won ten of their league games while only losing two points on one occasion.
The scenes aren’t any different in Europe as well. The Catalonia club have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League. However, they require to avoid a defeat to seal their spot as group winners.
Nevertheless, they face one particular setback ahead of their clash against Juventus in Champions League next week.
Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is set to miss out against the Italian champions. The Argentine sustained an injury in his right leg in the international break as La Albiceleste lost 4-2 against Nigeria. The injury is likely to put him out of contention for four weeks.
Luckily for Barcelona, star midfielder Ivan Rakitic and the Messiah, Lionel Messi both are back in the training as they will look to push their team forward in important games ahead.
